FAMILY LEGACY IN LAW ENFORCEMENT
The foundation of this legacy was laid by his father, Arthur Lee Nored, an Army veteran who dedicated 25 years to public service. His distinguished career included serving as Chief of Police in Waynesboro, Chief Deputy of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, and Chairman of the Mississippi State Parole Board. A pioneer in the field, Mr. Nored was the first law enforcement leader in Mississippi to earn both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Criminal Justice from The University of Southern Mississippi. Both Deron and his father share the rare distinction of being named Officer of the Year by the Mississippi Law Enforcement Association.
Supporting this commitment to justice is Deron’s wife, Dr. Lisa Nored, an accomplished leader with over 32 years of experience in higher education. Dr. Nored has shaped the future of law enforcement and legal studies as the former Director of Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, and Security at USM, and currently serves as the Chair of Legal Studies at the University of Central Florida. An authored expert and active member of multiple statewide professional boards, her career reflects the same dedication to professional standards and public service that defines the Nored family.
